The quirky Toyota iQ was a fashionable, cheap-to-run city car with something of a claim to its name: it was the smallest four-seater in the UK.

Its rivals include the Ford Ka, Fiat 500 and even the two-seat Smart ForTwo, but none of those could match the iQ’s clever packaging. For a car only three metres long, there’s a surprising amount of room in the front.

Rear seat passengers wouldn’t be quite so comfortable – especially those behind the driver’s seat – which makes the Toyota iQ best suited to couples who live in the city.
