The Nissan Terrano II was a mid-sized SUV which was also available during its product lifecycle as the Ford Maverick. The Japanese firm internally labelled this car R20, and it was built to take on the likes of the Jeep Cherokee and the Land Rover Discovery as well as the Kia Sorento.

While the firm itself is famed for building strong, reliable cars, the Terrano struggled off-road against its rivals. It traded talent in this area for better manners on road, so it’s more likely you’ll see one towing a caravan or horsebox that tackling extreme hills or river wading. With that said, you do get a low-range gearbox and lots of suspension travel, so the capability to take on tougher terrain is there if you want it.
