Back when family hatchbacks were popular both in the company car park and among car buyers, the Japanese car manufacturer launched the Honda Accord way back in 1976.

It wasn’t the most common sight but buyers liked the three-door Accord for its moderate size and good fuel economy.

The second generation grew in size and arrived in 1982 and was recognised as being the first car available with an automatic in-car navigation system.

The striking design of the 1986 third generation marked it out especially its pop-up headlamps. It was called the Honda Accord Aerodeck to reflect is sporting lines, though lack of sales meant it didn’t last long.
