There’s an unpretentious honesty about cars like the Fiat Doblo that resonates with buyers looking for incredibly practical, spacious and flexible transport.

The secret of its talents is that it wasn’t developed with the primary role of being a car – instead it’s a passenger version of the Fiat Doblo van, a small commercial vehicle.

Fiat’s not gone out on a limb with the Doblo though, and it goes up against various rivals in the segment including the Citroen Berlingo Multispace, Ford Tourneo Connect and Peugeot Partner Tepee

Launched back in 2001 the first generation Fiat Doblo was a distinctive design, bordering on the wilfully ugly, something put partially right in 2005 with a facelift that introduced a simpler nose design and an upgraded interior.
