The Chevrolet Cruze was launched as a predecessor to the firm’s Lacetti, which found fame on the BBC’s Top Gear programme as the ‘reasonably priced car’.

It was available as a saloon between 2009 and 2011, a Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback from 2011 and Chevrolet Cruze Station Wagon from 2012.

Towards the end of 2013 the firm decided to pull out of selling cars in the UK, and run-out models were reported be off sale by the end of 2015.

Its main rivals were family cars such as the Ford Focus, the Hyundai i30 and theKia Ceed; but other competition comes in the form of the Skoda Octavia andVolkswagen Jetta.
