The MK III Golf did not deliver a class-leading performance in terms of how it drove, but it was the most desirable car in its class and has significantly more clout with buyers than the Escort and Astra. This is mainly thanks to build quality, finish, and conservative styling which has aged with dignity.

Parkers Rating:

3.5 out of 5

The MK III Golf did not deliver a class-leading performance in terms of how it drove, but it was the most desirable car in its class and has significantly more clout with buyers than the Escort and Astra. This is mainly thanks to build quality, finish, and conservative styling which has aged with dignity. But popularity has a downside and it's that Golf can be expensive to buy - so make sure you don't pay too much.

What owners say...

The five door is an excellent all round car for the price paid. If fits four adults comfortably with good leg room and headroom as well as a great sized boot for a car of this size.

I don't know how to answer this. There isn't any thing practical about it that other cars don't have.
