The Suzuki Swift design barely changed from when it was launched in 1992, to when it finally went out of production in 2003. It's a bit old fashioned, with a cramped interior, few modern safety features and dated looks, but makes a case for itself as a cheap, economical and reliable runabout.

Equipment

1.3 GTi has 100 bhp, front and rear spoilers, front fog lights, anti-roll bars, sports seats, all-round disc brakes and colour-keyed trim. GC, GLS and GLX models have front fog lights. Revised in October 96, with new bonnet, bumpers and grille; the GLX also gained colour-keyed bumpers. Special editions include: 1.0 GLS ‘Forest Green’ (July 96): metallic paint, central locking; 1.0 ‘Goldfish’ (July 98); 1.0 GLS ‘Special’ (August 98).

1.0 GLS and 1.3 GLS Sky (Feb 2000), pearl blue, alloy wheels, rev counter. 1.0 Cirrus (May 2000), metallic blue or silver, alloy wheels, sports seats.
