The Boxster is the entry-level into Porsche ownership, but don't think this makes owning one any less special. It's just as well engineered, equally great to drive, sounds sublime and costs far less than a 911.

There's no crash test rating for the Boxster but the body is very strong and it benefits from driver, passenger, side and head airbags. A comprehensive Porsche Stability Management system keep things in check while an alarm and immobiliser are standard fit. Ceramic brakes with even shorter stopping distances are an option on the Boxster S but they're expensive at more than £5,000.

Reliability

Porsches are mainly hand built and standards of engineering are very high. Despite the sky high expectations of the average Porsche owner, very few are ever disappointed by the reliability of their car.
