Summary

Parkers Rating:

2.5 out of 5

Old-generation S Class is technologically sophisticated, but just too big. Virtually unrivalled for prestige, comfort, power and reliability, these behemoths lack the discreet elegance of the BMW 7-Series or Audi A8. For some, they were the ultimate symbol of the plutocrat. Their star is on the wane now that the less conspicuous, current S-Class is on the used market in large numbers.

Values will suffer as a result.

What owners say...

It is a ludicrous vehicle I am not sure anything is really very practical about it. it uses fuel like there is no tomrrow - 15mpg. The boot is huge. loads of leg room in it for me - I'm 1.92m tall.

Turning circle of a London taxi, huge boot. Excellent fuel economy given nits a 5 litre V8 weighing more that 2 tons I get 30mpg overall constantly driven within the speed limits.
