Parkers Rating:

4 out of 5

The C5 replaced the Xantia in 2001. It's a supremely comfortable car with clever 'active' hydro-pneumatic suspension that is. The airy, spacious interior is complemented by cavernous load space in the estate. A wide choice of engines includes frugal but refined turbo-diesels and a low emission direct injection petrol unit. C5 is well built, well equipped and stands close comparison with Mondeo and Laguna.

It's good value too, but only as a used car choice, as depreciation is heavy.

What owners say...

Everything, if you opt for the later model you get a nicer bonnet and front parking sensors, these are the only useful bits - all the rest is negative after Peugeot accountants had deleted things.

The load space is large and the suspension can be lowered to help with heavy loads.
