This BMW 7-Series may look less controversial than the model that was launched in 2002, but that doesn't mean that it's any less revolutionary. There are no carry-over components from the previous car and this 7-Series has a softer and more elegant look to it.

Buying used

The 7-Series went on sale in mid November 2008 with a choice of three engines: 730, 740i and 750i. A long wheel-base version (L) was available for the 740i and 750i from launch and on the 730d from early 2009. Expect at least one-in-five used 7-Series to be a 730d, mostly in standard wheelbase form. The best - and newest - used cars are held within the BMW dealer network.

All BMW used approved cars come with at least a year's warranty and breakdown cover, 30-day/1000-mile exchange policy and full multi-point inspection.

Biggest demand is for the 730d especially in long wheel-base form. That said, there is a cult following for the larger petrol engined cars amongst private buyers for the sheer value for money that they offer. Most buyers will be looking for car with a full, preferably BMW, service history All 7-Series come with sat nav as standard - a real selling point over similar cars from other manufacturers.
