Following on from the successful Scirocco is another retro-inspired Volkswagen, the Beetle. Almost 22 million original Beetles were built, making it one of the most successful cars of all time.

Buying used

Volkswagen expects to sell somewhere in the region of 2-3,000 Beetles a year, meaning that there should be a fair degree of choice on the used market. You can expect that the majority of owners will take good care of their Beetle so buyers shouldn’t have to look too hard in order to find a good example. 1.2 TSI and 1.6 TDI models are the most common versions so you may have to wait in order to find a used 2.0-litre TSI version.

Virtually every person, including those not interested in cars, can relate to the Beetle name in some way. There are tens of thousands of Beetle fans out there, many of who want a more modern and reliable version of their favourite cult icon. This means that when it comes to selling it shouldn’t be hard to find a buyer. The Beetle’s more modern design, comfortable interior and good range of engines will also help make it appeal those who want something a little different.

The 1.2-litre TSI and 1.6-litre TDI models will be the most sought after, thanks to their frugality, but expect demand for the more potent 2.0-litre TSI model to be strong as well.
