The VXR8 effectively replaces the Monaro in the Vauxhall line-up but rather than a two-door coupe, this is a four-door saloon. It has the same brutish character though with aggressive looks and a rumbling V8 engine that produces more than 400bhp.

The VXR8 hasn't been subjected to any official Euro NCAP crash tests but does at least come with the usual safety features you'd expect on car of this size with electronic stability control, electronic brake-force distribution, as well as six airbags and active head restraints.

The V8 engine in the VXR8 was used in the Monaro with no issues. It relies upon relatively simple and straightforward technology and any inherent faults in the design have long since been ironed out. If there are any problems they're likely to be niggly rather than major.
