Vauxhall has boosted its image by borrowing the Monaro from its Australian sister company Holden and making it available over here. It shares little but the badge with any other Vauxhall, shunning the 2.2-litre four cylinder in favour of a thumping V8.

What owners say...

The car isn't what you would call the most practical, especially the VXR version. Rule changes in the states meant that the fuel tank was moved behind the rear seats, taking much of the boot space.
