The Vauxhall Mokka is a completely new model launched into the lucrative and rapidly expanding compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) or crossover market. The company hopes that the neatly styled, practical and well specified car will appeal to those with a more active lifestyle, as well as helping to draw in new buyers to Vauxhall.

Buying used

The Vauxhall Mokka could make a good used purchase if you want a dependable car that's easy to live with. You'll have to find one that's priced very keenly, however, to make it a worthwhile choice compared to rivals like the Skoda Yeti, Mitsubishi ASX or even larger alternatives like the Nissan Qashqai.

Do check the condition of the tyres if you're buying a higher specification Mokka. These are fitted with larger wheels and a set of replacement tyres could prove expensive, so use this to your advantage and try and cut down the price appropriately.

If you do want to buy a Mokka though, regardless of how good the car may appear, get a Parkers car history check on it. The history check will show whether the car is hiding any unpleasant surprises and, when it comes to sell the car later on, will help improve the confidence of any potential buyer.

Selling

The Vauxhall Mokka won't be a difficult car to sell as Vauxhalls are popular cars. Compact SUVs, like the Mokka, are also in demand and highly sought-after.

If your Mokka is in good condition, well presented and complete with a full service history, then it should not take long to find a buyer - assuming you advertise the car at a reasonable price.

Most buyers will look to purchase either the 1.7-litre diesel or the 1.6-litre petrol version, so if you've one of those it should take even less time to sell.

Mokkas fitted with the optional Winter Pack and Front Camera System may command a small premium, as will four-wheel drive versions.

When it comes to selling your car do remember to point out the decent equipment levels, practical interior and the car's high safety standards.
