Feeling its age now but this leviathan off-roader is still a highly competent machine and can still double as a luxury cruiser in the mould of the Range Rover. Old technology turbodiesel engine is a little crude but is highly effective - mainly because of its enormous size at 4.

The Amazon has never been tested under the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP). However, it is probably more important that any other vehicle involved in a crash with the Toyota has exceptional crash performance such is its size and mass. The Amazon has a full complement of safety features, including six airbags, Isofix child seat mounting points, and seatbelt pre-tensioners.
