Improving refinement can be a minefield. Too much and you’ll dull a car down so much it loses character.

Equipment

There is no trim level system for the Swift Sport, with just one standard model. In March 2013 a limited-edition SZ-R version was released, available only in ‘Cosmic Black’ with a red roof, spoiler and mirrors. Produced in a limited run of 100 cars, the SZ-R also featured numbered sill guards, a carpet mat set and an alternative design for the gear shift knob.

Standard Suzuki Swift Sport equipment

Standard equipment on the Suzuki Swift Sport is relatively generous. The kit list includes electric front windows, heated and folding door mirrors, keyless entry and start, remote central locking, sports seats, cruise control, automatic air conditioning, a radio/CD player with a USB port and MP3 playback, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, steering wheel-based stereo controls, tinted rear glass, three cup holders, HID headlamps and front fog lights.

On the safety front, all cars get driver and front passenger airbags (the front passenger bag can be deactivated) along with side, curtain and driver knee airbags.

Note that a spare wheel isn’t standard fit – you get a repair kit instead.

As part of a series of minor updates in mid-2013, an ‘auto up’ function for the driver’s electric window was introduced along with an LED type high mounted brake light.

Currently, Suzuki is offering metallic paint at no extra cost.

Optional Suzuki Swift Sport Accessories

A six-inch touchscreen sat-nav and multimedia system is available, which can be purchased as a kit or fitted by an authorised dealer at extra cost. Either way, it’s quite a pricey option.

Also available is a set of reversing aid sensors, which again can be purchased as a kit or fitted by a dealer.

There are various options to customise the Swift’s appearance, including an additional front lower spoiler, different finishes for the grilles and fog light surrounds and go-faster decals.

It’s the same story on the inside, with available items including: four-piece silver dash trim pieces; door sill plates in a choice of colours; a black and red leather gear knob; a carpet mat set; and a centre armrest with a lift up storage section large enough for CDs.

More practical accessories include a lockable aluminium roof rack with a maximum load of 50kg. This can then in turn be fitted with a separately available lockable bike carrying module, which can accommodate one bike weighing no more than 50kg.

When the rest of the Swift range was facelifted in summer 2013, the Sport received minor improvements including an LED centre brake light, one-touch electric driver's window, Boost Blue metallic paint and the availability of five-doors.
