Used Suzuki Kizashi (2012 - 2013) Driving & Performance Review by Parkers on 14 Dec 2011 3 On looks alone Suzuki's new Kizashi saloon shows promise. This slick four-door is the Japanese manufacturer's first UK foray into the so-called D-segment currently dominated by the Ford Mondeos and Vauxhall Insignias of this world. Summary Driving & Performance Equipment Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Owners' Reviews Also Consider Facts & Figures Gallery 3 out of 5 Performance View full gallery Only one engine is available: a 175bhp 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol. This is mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission automatic gearbox but you can change gears manually via paddles located behind the steering wheel. There's also a full manual mode for even more control when necessary. Our advice is to keep the Kizashi in automatic mode because the car performs better when it can pick the gears itself. This is not a car for enthusiasts and the performance is merely adequate for a car of its size. The engine feels underpowered and it can seem like it takes an age to get up to speed. On paper, however, the figures aren't too bad. It will get from zero to 62mph in 8.8 seconds, and has a top speed of 127mph. 3 out of 5 Handling View full gallery The Kizashi's steering is a major let-down. It feels woolly and you never get the impression that you are at one with the car. Around corners it's competent, but it doesn't feel particularly well planted. Body lean is kept in check, thanks to relatively stiff - but not uncomfortably so - suspension. The switchable two/four-wheel drive enhances the traction levels and gives the driver more confidence in wintry conditions. The usefulness of this, however, is limited. Overall, the Kizashi is acceptable, but it's no better than any other four-door saloon on sale.
