Volkswagen Polo Hatchback 1.6 GTi 3d (2001/X)

Volkswagen Polo Hatchback 1.6 GTi 3d (2001/X) - Owner Review

Space inside is great for a small car. The boot is usefull and really deep but you need to stack things if going on holiday as it's not very long. Spec is suprizingly high.

Driving it

2 out of 5

What's it like to drive?
The car is smooth and well behaved but a little too removed for my liking with little character. As a GTI I found the performance pleasing but as with most VVT engines it needs to be revved to get the best leaving it feeling slugish around town.

What's it like to park?
Alround visability is very good which aids parking. With a flat boot and light power stearing it is really easy to park.

Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?
Lambda sensor stopped working (£80-£100), gearbox failure aroung 55000 miles meaning all bearings had to be renewed (£300-£400 not including fitting)

What's most practical about your car?
Space inside is great for a small car. The boot is usefull and really deep but you need to stack things if going on holiday as it's not very long. Spec is suprizingly high.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Electronic differential lock (EDL) really helps in the snow! Xenon lights look amazing and really are good for vision.
