Skoda Yeti (09-17)

4 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
Being leased sensible and pragmatic after my experience with a Mercedes B Class.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They think it is very good and are amazed that it is a Skoda. This car knocks the socks off my previous Mercedes b class, it is better built has far superior mechanics and is superior in all respects.

Would you buy this car again and why?
I would opt for the diesel simply because of mpg. VW have been found wanting with emission figures but in my experience all manufacturers are guilty of producing mpg figures which are impossible to achieve.

What are you likely to buy next?
The only fault with the Yeti is that the rear seats are very small and uncomfortable. They are shaped, firm and are really only suitable for children. Skoda have tried to squeeze a third seat in. 2 would have been better. I will probably try the Renault Captur next.

Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

Did you buy this car new?

What price did you pay?

When did you buy the car?
April 2016

Did you get a good deal and why?
Leased from Skoda getting a fantastic deal. Bought new because I was sick of 2nd hand cars with their faults and upkeep. A new car makes sense when leased.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I actually leased this car over a 24 month contract. Great deal, to replace my previous Merc B class, which, I rejected because of a persistent fault.

What was the dealer like?
I bought the car through a broker, the time taken was long but the real problem is that no definite dates were offered and I found the process beaurocratic, drawn out and generally unfit for purpose.

Driving it

What's it like to drive?
The engine is a delight and despite only being 1200 cc is refined, quiet and up to the task. The auto gearbox is fantastic and coupled to the engine is fun to drive. The ride is a little firm but handling is excellent.

What's it like to park?
This car is small but feels a lot bigger, parking sensors (rear) are very helpful.

Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing, but the Infotainment systems has features that are optional extras and not available unless requested, this is not made clear and I don't believe Skoda dealers really understand this excellent bit of kit.

What's most practical about your car?
The gearbox.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Auto gearbox.
