Driving it

What's it like to drive?
Akin to its VW stable-mates, the Fabia feels solid and well constructed. Road manners and handling remain predictable even when the car is pushed. The electric power steering is nicely weighted affording good feedback in all road conditions. The brakes are similarly reassuring being powerful and progressive. While in SDI guise the Fabia is not going to win many races, 60mpg is not difficult to achieve.

What's it like to park?
With the boot not able to be seen from the driver's seat, judging the length of the car in tight spaces proves difficult.

Living with it

5 out of 5

Have you had any problems with the car?
The Fabia has proved one-hundred percent reliable albeit the bushes on the front suspension arms have been replaced with heavy duty nylon. As with the suspension arm bushes, the anti-roll bar drop links are a known weakness on the Fabia, the VW Polo and the Seat Ibiza. Here again, heavy duty replacements are available however for little extra cost.

What's most practical about your car?
Driver/passenger comfort and boot space.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Height adjustable driver seat. Reach/rake adjustment on steering wheel.
