Skoda Fabia Hatchback (07-14)

Summary

4 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
That I'm not a 'badge snob' and practicality rules.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Some think I'm mad buying Skoda but soon come around when values are explained

Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, for above reasons and low initial cost and cost of ownership. It suits me fine and my wife likes it too!

What are you likely to buy next?
Another Fabia but must have cruise control & full i-pod control on radio. Parking sensors desirable

Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise

Did you buy this car new?
Used

What price did you pay?
-

When did you buy the car?
December 2009

Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, good deal as I bought in their quiet month of December.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Having been in the trade since starting my apprenticeship in 1965 I have followed the fortunes of several manufacturers and the rise in stature of Skoda prompted me to recommend my 30 something son to a mark 1 Fabia estate which is so good that, having lost my company Golf (redundantcy) I bought the new shape Fabia myself.

What was the dealer like?
The most professional, especially as salesman usually sells Mercedes and didn't treat me as second class.

Driving it

4 out of 5

What's it like to drive?
Fast enough, comfortable on Cornwall trip and daily commute of 25 miles. Handles well and all controls easy.

What's it like to park?
Simple

Living with it

4 out of 5

Have you had any problems with the car?
Intermittent tapping noise from engine on cold start for about a minute (gone now). OSR door wouldn't open from outside after centrally unlocking but fixed under Skoda warranty. Shiny black trim wrinkled on 'B' pillar also dealt with - warranty.

What's most practical about your car?
Because the front seats pump up for height it is a very comfortable 4 adult seater.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
i-pod connector but you can't control the i-pod from radio like on the Golf
