SEAT Leon Hatchback (00-05)

Summary

4 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
It's been a sports car for me. I've never been ashamed driving it and like to think people look at it!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They love it. When they've driven it after driving their cars, they're amazed by the smooth drive it offers.

Would you buy this car again and why?
I would buy another Leon, however, not too sure on the new look model. Also, I have to consider a bigger car as I now have a family. But if it was only me, I would buy this car again, probably the last model they built of this model.

What are you likely to buy next?
Considering a Nissan X Trail or a Ford Galaxy purely for practical reasons.

Buying experience

4 out of 5

Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise

Did you buy this car new?
New

What price did you pay?
£14,500

When did you buy the car?
October 2003

Did you get a good deal and why?
At the time I thought I was getting a good deal but on reflection I probably could have knocked another £500 off the price.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
It was slightly bigger than a Golf and cheaper!

What was the dealer like?
The dealer was very helpful. I knew what I wanted before I even went to them, but they helped me get the car I wanted very quickly. Servicing has been excellent service too.

Driving it

5 out of 5

What's it like to drive?
It's amazingly fast. I love the fact it looks sporty as standard but is mid range. I have the power when I need it to overtake and braking is very sharp and quick.

What's it like to park?
Reverse parking is a bit of a nightmare because of the high back on the Leon. You can't see anything, parking sensors would help hugely here.

Living with it

5 out of 5

Have you had any problems with the car?
I've done a high mileage (80,000 miles) and so it was inevitable something would go. At 60,000 miles it needed a new timing belt, which is normal for Seat Leon's at 60,000 miles apparently. I needed a new radiator at 75,000 miles and my air conditioning pump has just failed which is expensive to repair.

What's most practical about your car?
The boot is huge and I can fit a large baby pram in it including the chassis.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The stereo is excellent on this car with sound quality simply amazing.
