Rover 25 1.4 Impression S 5d (2003/03)

Rover 25 1.4 Impression S 5d (2003/03) - Owner Review

The fact it has 5 doors so friends and family can get into it and out really easily with no hassle. The boot if pretty large for a car of its size similar size for a Focus or Astra.

Summary

5 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
I'm 21.....and I drive a Rover 25 1.4 and I love it its a brilliant car great value for money. I can get parts and servicing done easily despite Rover being out of business. It says that I am a sensible person who has gone for a good reliable sensible car.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
My family love my car and have nothing bad to say about it. My friends? They are mixed opinions to be fair. Allot say its not cool, old mans car, old womans car etc! But I dont care as its my car and its brilliant.

Would you buy this car again and why?
I certainly would. I would go for the sporty Mg version called the ZR.

What are you likely to buy next?
I would go for the next up the sportier version called the MG ZR.

Buying experience

5 out of 5

Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?
Used

What price did you pay?
£295

When did you buy the car?
January 2014

Did you get a good deal and why?
Got a great deal on the car as the previous owner didn't want/need the car anymore and it came with half a tank of petrol/long MOT and long TAX. The car only required a full valet, new tyres and tracking.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
My father owned a Rover for many many years and it inspired me to get a Rover car as a replacement for my first car a small Daewoo Matiz.

What was the dealer like?
I did not purchase the car from a dealer.

Driving it

4 out of 5

What's it like to drive?
Its a brilliant car to drive with confortable supportive seats. Its allot more powerful for a 1.4 engine than my first/previous car an 800cc Matiz its a massive difference it feels great like luxury and for £295 I cant go wrong. The engines are strong and willing but they are easy to blow the dreaded head gasket on and is well known on all MG Rover cars. This can be avoided by checking the coolant level and not letting it go low AND by not thrashing the thing like some boy racer.. It needs to be driven carefully but not as slow as an elderly person.

What's it like to park?
Its easy to park once your get used to its size and its long front end nose. Mine has parking sensors built into the rear bumper so this helps allot. With wide mirrors all round its easy to park carefully.

Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?
The only thing to go wrong with it is the alarm system which is linked to the central locking. One day I unlocked my 25 and the alarm would not stop going off, I managed to get it to stop eventually but this meant no central locking now and I have to press one of the buttons on the key fob when I turn the ignition to de-activate the immobilizer. No alarm and no central locking is no worry to me as the car is still secure from threat of thieves and joy riders.

What's most practical about your car?
The fact it has 5 doors so friends and family can get into it and out really easily with no hassle. The boot if pretty large for a car of its size similar size for a Focus or Astra.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
It has all the nice toys I require such as.. Air conditioning CD/Radio player PAS/Power steering 5 doors E.Mirrors etc.
