Peugeot 508 SW 2.0 HDi (140bhp) Active 5d (2012/12)

Peugeot 508 SW 2.0 HDi (140bhp) Active 5d (2012/12) - Owner Review

Good space all round - front, back and boot. Least practical - weird limited range of height adjustment on the drivers seat, so it doesn't go down far enough for taller drivers.

Peugeot 508 SW (11-18)

Summary

3 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
Not sure. Either "trying to be different" or "doesn't really care about cars".

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
The haven't commented.

Would you buy this car again and why?
No. Parking is a pain, and my next car won't need quite the same load space.

What are you likely to buy next?
Something from the class down - A3 / Golf / Focus / maybe Peugeot 308?

Buying experience

5 out of 5

Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised

Did you buy this car new?
Used

What price did you pay?
-

When did you buy the car?
February 2013

Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, was offered a great p/x price on my old car, and a competitive price on the new one.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Needed a large-ish family car to lug kids + kit. This fit the bill, and I got a good deal.

What was the dealer like?
Very good. The salesman was friendly and professional, but not pushy. They've been good on servicing too.

Driving it

3 out of 5

What's it like to drive?
It's a solid, quiet motorway cruiser - I easily get 50mpg+ - and OK on the back roads and around town too. Biggest downside is that the ride is a bit firm and "jiggly" - much more so than my wife's Golf.

What's it like to park?
Terrible. It's a long car with a poor turning circle and no parking sensors on the model I've got. My attempts to get in and out of spaces in a multi-storey car park are embarrassing.

Living with it

4 out of 5

Have you had any problems with the car?
It's generally very well screwed together. Just one niggle with the bonnet catch needing to be adjusted. Otherwise no issues.

What's most practical about your car?
Good space all round - front, back and boot. Least practical - weird limited range of height adjustment on the drivers seat, so it doesn't go down far enough for taller drivers.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The panoramic sunroof is nice. The sound quality from the audio system is poor.
