Nissan 200 SX 2.0 Standard 2d (1996/N)

Nissan 200 SX 2.0 Standard 2d (1996/N) - Owner Review

Excellent fun, especially in the wet. Gearchange is a bit notchy, but steering is very direct and tailsliding is easy to control.

Nissan 200 SX (94-01)

Value

4 out of 5

Lots of power and looks (in my opinion) for the money, although if you get a bad one look out!

Costs

2 out of 5

High insurance, high consumption (25-30mpg) and parts from dealer are astronomical. Servicing is not too bad (find a local garage to do it) - phone around for parts and you can save a lot.

Driving

4 out of 5

Excellent fun, especially in the wet. Gearchange is a bit notchy, but steering is very direct and tailsliding is easy to control.

Performance

5 out of 5

For the money, not much can touch it. Acceleration in 3rd puts a smile on your face; very fast top end.

Reliability

3 out of 5

Lots of small problems and the build quality isn't great, about average.

Image

4 out of 5

Understated and classy, although some people think it's a Skyline.

Comfort

3 out of 5

Good seats, but the ride is a bit harsh on bumpy roads. Good pedal and steering wheel position.

Security

3 out of 5

Not been tested yet, but I hear the locks are a bit weak.

Service

3 out of 5

The main dealer is polite and friendly, but not very efficient for what you pay.

Problems

Bodywork
Watch out for rust in the door sill seam. Panel fit is a bit dubious.

Engine
Blowing manifold (expensive), turbo gasket and stuttering that took ages for Nissan to sort out.

Gearbox
1st to 2nd is very notchy when cold. No major problems yet.

Other
Slight boot leak, rear calliper sticking, front calliper sticking and washer pump replaced.
