Mazda 3 Hatchback 2.2d Sport Nav 5d (2015/65) - Owner Review

Reasonable load space for the class of vehicle and very good when the back seats are folded down.

Mazda 3 Hatchback (13-19)

3 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
Overall disappointed.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They like its looks and ride.

Would you buy this car again and why?
I certainly would not buy the nav version but would consider buying the non nav version.

What are you likely to buy next?
Same class but I will seriously consider a Toyota, Hyundai or Kia.

Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

Did you buy this car new?

What price did you pay?

When did you buy the car?
October 2015

Did you get a good deal and why?
I was happy with what they gave me for the trade in for my existing car and the price I paid for the new one. There was bit of haggling and I felt that I had probably extracted as much of a discount as they were prepared to offer which compared favourably with the offers I received from 2 other dealers.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I had previously owned 2 Mazdas for 6 years and was impressed with the make.

What was the dealer like?
Nothing special but I did not feel pressured.

Driving it

What's it like to drive?
It is a pleasure to drive in all conditions, easy to shift gears, responsive, quiet. I had previously owned larger cars for approximately 20 years (e.g. Mazda 6, Honda Accord etc) but found the Mazda 3 on a par with these cars for the overall driving experience.

What's it like to park?
Vision at the rear is a bit restricted but the sensors obviously help.

Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?
Had several problems with the MZD Infotainment system which unfortunately have not been resolved. The satnav is unreliable as it will often lose its way and I have to stop and switch off the engine and reenter my destination The TMC feature is a waste of time as it warns you of traffic incidents that are not actually on your route but close by e.g. an incident on a motorway which I happened to be crossing over on a B road.. The TA feature also does not work properly as the messages will often go silent after a couple of seconds. Unfortunately the dealer hadn't got a clue and had to rely on Mazda UK who didn't seem to have much of a clue either as all they could do was to suggest updating the software which didn't solve the problems.

What's most practical about your car?
Reasonable load space for the class of vehicle and very good when the back seats are folded down.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
All round parking sensors.
