Hyundai i20 Hatchback 1.0T GDI SE 5d (2016/16)

Hyundai i20 Hatchback 1.0T GDI SE 5d (2016/16) - Owner Review

Practical in every aspect as far as I am concerned in its every day use. Good size two level boot, around 320 capacity. Takes four tall adults with ease and no cramping of the rear passengers.

Hyundai i20 Hatchback (15-20)

Summary

4 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
I don't buy cars to enhance my image....if I ever had one! I buy a car for practicality and hopefully fuel efficiency.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Everyone thinks it is great.

Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, because it is all I hoped it would be, practical, spacious and good styling and build quality with zero road tax throughout its life, another reason to like the 1.0litre engine! The mpg is of course nowhere near what Hyundai say it should be but it has only just clocked up a 1000 miles so hopefully that will improve.

What are you likely to buy next?
Please..........it took me long enough to select this one, don't put me through that again!

Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised

Did you buy this car new?
New

What price did you pay?
£12,225

When did you buy the car?
March 2016

Did you get a good deal and why?
I thought it was a good deal with around £2000 off list price.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Bought the car to replace a low milage 10 year old Toyota Corolla. I preferred the styling of the Hyundai to the Toyota Yaris that I also considered.

What was the dealer like?
Very helpful and informative, the dealership know their product very well.

Driving it

5 out of 5

What's it like to drive?
The new 1.0 litre turbo engine did take some getting used to and is excellent, it accelerates with a lovely low growl. Once the revs' drop however be prepared to do some slick gear changes or you will find yourself suddenly lacking in ooomph! The car handles very well in my opinion and motorway driving is a pleasure with little noise in the cabin and an engine that just keeps pulling. The gearbox is good although I wouldn't say it was quite as slick as the one in my old Corolla. Around town the car is also very much at ease.

What's it like to park?
Very easy and the rear parking sensors are a great asset, the steering makes the car easy to manoeuvre. Higher spec' models get front and rear sensors making it even better.

Have you had any problems with the car?
After two months of driving. nothing as yet.

What's most practical about your car?
Practical in every aspect as far as I am concerned in its every day use. Good size two level boot, around 320 capacity. Takes four tall adults with ease and no cramping of the rear passengers.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Rear parking sensors and I do like the new 1.0 litre turbo engine. I specifically waited for this new engine to come out and glad I did as many reviews commented the 1.2 and 1.4 engines were a bit lacklustre, in comparison to the 1.0litre, they are.
