Ford Focus Hatchback 1.6 EcoBoost Titanium X 5d (2011/11)

Ford Focus Hatchback 1.6 EcoBoost Titanium X 5d (2011/11) - Owner Review

Self parking system is very useful to get you into a small space quickly and in one go... we thought this would be a gimmick but it's actually very helpful. Parking sensors are very good, with a good map of distance and covers front and back and to the front/rear sides.

Ford Focus Hatchback 1.6 EcoBoost Titanium X 5d (2011/11)

Summary

5 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
That you haven't fallen for the cult of BMW/VW/Audi.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They like it and the staunch BMW & Audi crew have been surprised by the performance, features and quality of the car, and a little jealous at the price.

Would you buy this car again and why?
Definetely, it's a dream to drive, love the performance and would seriously consider an updated model in the future.

What are you likely to buy next?
Not going to be buying for a few years, we have no brand loyalty and will buy whatever we feel delivers the best features, quality and price at the time.

Buying experience

5 out of 5

Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised

Did you buy this car new?
Used

What price did you pay?
£14,000

When did you buy the car?
June 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, much better deal than anything local - saw the car for nearly 2k less than others of the same spec and mileage, but was at a Ford dealer in Scotland... went to local dealer, who tried to sell us cars they had in stock and showed them the car online, they made a quick phonecall and agreed to get us the car at that price. Then haggled to get a little more off (hey why not :) ), tank of fuel, tax etc...

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
To replace our aging Renault Megane.

What was the dealer like?
Friendly, helpful, tried to sell the usual rubbish like paint treatment etc, but wasn't too pushy.

Driving it

5 out of 5

What's it like to drive?
Great to drive, good performance, steering feels good, sticks to the road, quiet at speed on the motorway and comfortable seats.

What's it like to park?
Visibility not fantastic with mirrors alone, and you have to be careful with the 18" alloy wheels as they are very easy to kerb. Turning circle is only mediocre especially with the larger wheels. Highly recommend parking sensors for normal day to day parking and the self park system if you're going to be parking in small spots on busy streets frequently.

Living with it

5 out of 5

Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing

What's most practical about your car?
Self parking system is very useful to get you into a small space quickly and in one go... we thought this would be a gimmick but it's actually very helpful. Parking sensors are very good, with a good map of distance and covers front and back and to the front/rear sides.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Heated seats are great, USB for music, climate and adaptive cruise control... self park is very cool.
