Ford Escort Hatchback 1.3i 3d (2003/52) - Owner Review

Bumpy ride, but fun to drive. Taking a corner too fast isn't recommended though.

Ford Escort Hatchback (90-01)

Value

3 out of 5

No kit at all on the basic spec models, but plenty of cheap, used examples.

Costs

3 out of 5

Realatively cheap to run, even with the price of petrol these days.

Driving

3 out of 5

Bumpy ride, but fun to drive. Taking a corner too fast isn't recommended though.

Performance

2 out of 5

Nippy around town, but struggles on the motorway - but hey, if you want a fast car, buy a Ferrari.

Reliability

4 out of 5

No problems yet.

Image

Respectable, though not a head-turner.

Comfort

2 out of 5

Good driving position. Seats not very good on basic spec models.

Terrible - alarm is terrible and stops working after so many miles. Crap locks.

Problems

Bodywork
Some rust above the petrol cap, which I believe is a common escort problem. Still looks OK for age.

Engine
A little noisy.

Gearbox
Smoothe, quiet.

Other
Cheap interior trim.
