Summary

2 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
You don't mind buying a cheap car and living life on the edge due to the poor reliability. Just look up the C5 Yahoo group and you'll be put off forever!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Money-pit.

Would you buy this car again and why?
Not in this lifetime - see list of faults!

What are you likely to buy next?
Ford Mondeo or MG ZT - something a little less dull to drive and a lot less likely to burn my wallet regularly!

Driving it

3 out of 5

What's it like to drive?
Good ride and refinement, but don't expect any excitement behind the wheel. Complete lack of low-down torque from engine, which is rough and sounds like a diesel due to direct fuel injection.

What's it like to park?
Not great without sensors - you can't see the bonnet or the bootlid and it's a fairly long car.

Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?
Failed igniters on both xenon headlamps - requires replacement units at over £500 fitted EACH! Following the second failure investigating having xenon lamps replaced with standard halogens (cost quarter as much!). Exhaust pipe split in two whilst on holiday in southern France - french Citroen main dealer charged £1600 for replacement exhaust system!!! 'Anti-pollution fault' - failed oxygen sensor, £150 to fix. Engine misfire - failed coil pack, £300 to fix.

What's most practical about your car?
The space, comfort and equipment levels.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Computer controlled height-adjustable suspension.
