BMW 3-Series Touring 320d M Sport 5d Step Auto (2009/58)

BMW 3-Series Touring 320d M Sport 5d Step Auto (2009/58) - Owner Review

Auto gearbox is great as I live in Bath which, although a beautiful city, struggles with bad traffic. Automatic lights are also useful as is the split boot lid when I only have a little shopping. The boot cover that doubles for a cargo net behind the drivers seat is a good piece of design. The passenger side wing mirror automatically dips when you select reverse which is great when parking.

Driving it

5 out of 5

What's it like to drive?
Excellent, very torquey so easy to overtake if required, plenty fast enough and economical considering the power. Good fun on A/B roads. Long distance drives are also easy it's quiet in the cabin and the ride is reasonably smooth - even it has the sports suspension and 18" wheels so it can get a bit bumpy on bad roads (there has to be a compromise somewhere).

What's it like to park?
Easy, has rear park sensors and automatic dipping passenger wing mirror to better see the lines or curb.

Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?
Torque converter failed after about 20000 miles, main dealer replaced for free under warranty. Roof rails have been replaced free due to corrosion bubbling through under the paint.

What's most practical about your car?
Auto gearbox is great as I live in Bath which, although a beautiful city, struggles with bad traffic. Automatic lights are also useful as is the split boot lid when I only have a little shopping. The boot cover that doubles for a cargo net behind the drivers seat is a good piece of design. The passenger side wing mirror automatically dips when you select reverse which is great when parking.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Heated seats and Bluetooth phone connection.
