In the continuing war of the Japanese rally-styled road cars the Evo beats Subaru's Impreza in looks and individuality. Performance-wise they're evenly matched but most people seem to fall into one camp or the other (if they can live with the leery looks at all).

You get a couple of airbags - the driver gets the best airbaged wheel currently available - and the rest is left to fantastic roadholding and brakes. Security measures seem to be adequate.

They seem to last better than you would expect of a highly tuned, turbocharged, heavily modified saloon car but this is a complex machine and it has the ability to subject itself to some serious physical abuse.
