The sharp-looking Grandis is a stylish people carrier that can seat seven thanks to a spacious cabin and clever extra folding seats that disappear into the boot floor. It comes well equipped as standard - making it good value for money, especially as a used buy.

Although the Grandis has no Euro NCAP rating, it does come with eight airbags, ABS (with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist) and seatbelt pre-tensioners. All models have Isofix child seat mountings, plus remote central locking with an alarm and immobiliser.

Mitsubishis have a well-earned reputation for mechanical reliability and there is no reason to expect the Grandis will be any different. Overall quality is good, with decent materials used inside and a solid feel to the construction. There was a recall in 2007 but it only affected 90 cars.

A recall in 2007 for a potential problem with the reclining mechanism in the second row which could cause it to fail in a rear impact.
