The Chinese owned car manufacturer has finally broadened its range with the MG Motor UK MG3 supermini. With prices starting from £8,399, the new car is not the cheapest in the sector, but decent levels of standard equipment puts it nose to nose with equivalent Dacia Sanderos and Chevrolet Sparks.

Buying new

Look out for big discounts on a new MG3. It’s likely that dealers will be looking to sell as many cars as humanly possible, so push hard for the best deal you can get. While the MG dealership network expands it’s worth considering how far you’ll have to travel to get your car serviced too.

Buying used

As a smaller car we wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the MG3 will find use in cities. For that reason make sure you check for kerbed alloys or parking dents and scrapes.

It’s possible it will appeal to MG enthusiasts too, so make sure there are no modifications on the car or signs that it has been on a race track.

Don’t forget to carry out a Parkers Car History Check to make sure there are no hidden financial gremlins you should be aware of.

Selling

Make sure you keep a comprehensive service and maintenance record with the car. You may also want to steer clear of tweaks and modifications which could detract from the value of the car.

It’s worth getting any minor scrapes or dents fixed before selling the car, and make sure there is no kerbing on the wheels either.
