Used Mercedes-Benz SLK AMG (2012 - 2016) Equipment

There’s just one trim level for the SLK 55 AMG, but as you’d expect of a flagship model, it’s absolutely rammed full of equipment.

Standard Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG equipment

First of all you get some smart 18-inch AMG alloys. These join an AMG bodykit and AMG badging alongside the aggressive quad sports exhaust poking out of the mean-looking rear bumper.

There’s an intelligent bi-xenon headlight setup with a cornering function and headlight washers. You also get LED daytime running lights.

Of course, that electric roof is also standard fit, and ditto the remote boot release and the tyre sealant kit in place of a spare wheel.

Inside the car there’s yet more AMG badging along with air conditioning, electric windows, sports pedals, a special AMG steering wheel and a fabric wind deflector to keep your hair looking good when driving with the roof down.

The front seats are heated, electrically adjustable and have a memory function which allows for three drivers to set up and then recall their ideal seating position at the touch of a button.

Being a Mercedes, safety and security are paramount considerations. For that reason you get an alarm and immobiliser, an electric parking brake, several airbags and Attention Assist – which monitors the driver and advises a break is taken when it detects the symptoms of fatigue.

Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG technology

There’s quite a bit of tech installed on the SLK 55 AMG. Taking centre stage is the COMAND multimedia system. This takes the form of a seven-inch colour display in the dash. As well as providing sat-nav and displaying local speed limit information, it also plays CDs, MP3s via a USB port or aux-in jack and also DAB digital radio from the built-in tuner.

As is now the norm, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity is installed.

All of the above is controlled via a rotary dial behind the gear lever. The system is fairly intuitive to use, and we had our MP3 player and mobile phone connected to the car within three minutes.

Optional Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG accessories

The list of optional extras is a fairly long one. Highlights include a pair of different alloys, an AMG performance pack (upgraded brakes, suspension and rear differential), the AMG Driver’s Pack (includes a higher top speed limiter and an entry to a driving event) and a different steering wheel. There’s a long list of colours and interior trims to choose from, various upgrades to the sound system and even a rather expensive system called Magic Sky, which at the touch of a button adjusts the panoramic glass roof’s filtering of daylight. Basically, it turns the roof from clear to blue. Clever, but we suspect a little expensive for most buyers.
