Used Mercedes-Benz SL-Class AMG (2002 - 2011) Buying & Selling

The AMG versions of the SL - or at least the ones with V8 power - don't seem to offer a great deal more on paper than the top versions in the standard range. The SL55 AMG and later SL63 AMG are on a par for power with the SL600 and offer considerably less pulling power.

Buying used

The UK was one of the biggest markets for the SL55 AMG, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find one, and a second or third owner would miss out of the steepest part of the depreciation curve. An expensive car to own though. The rarer SL65 would probably not be that much more expensive than a V8 version, so could be viewed as better value taking into account the performance difference and extra equipment fitted as standard.

Demand should be fairly strong as the SL AMG is a rare car, although the cost of fuel and insurance might be off-putting.
