Jeep's high performance version of the Grand Cherokee, badged SRT-8, is produced in very limited numbers, making it a rare 4x4. With a hugely powerful V8 engine along with heavily modified suspension and steering, it's thunderously quick with 0-62mph coming up in just five seconds.

The SRT-8 has the same safety equipment fitted to the rest of the range. This includes airbags, stability control, traction control and a tyre pressure monitor. The SRT-8 also has run-flat tyres. A 'roll-over mitigation' system reduces engine power and applies a short burst of braking to the appropriate wheel if sensors detect a situation where the car might roll over.

Isofix child seat mounting points are also standard and the Grand Cherokee was awarded a four star rating by Euro NCAP.

Reliability

Being built to survive the rigours of the off-roading, and running a servicing schedule that requires regular attention should mean that it is reliable. The record of other Jeep products seems to back this up too.
