The Sonata is Hyundai's attempt at a relatively upmarket four-door saloon, but aside from decent equipment levels and a comfortable ride, there's little to recommend it. The anonymous styling along with a cheap feeling interior and forgettable driving experience mean it isn't a desirable choice.

Hyundai Sonata (05-10)
Five year warranty, spacious interior, decent diesel option, well built
Dull styling, not enjoyable to drive, cheap feeling interior, vague gearchange, poor automatic

On the plus side it is well built plus there's the option of a decent diesel engine, but that there are far better choices around.

Its strongest appeal is the five-year warranty, but the similar Kia Magentis comes with an even longer warranty and is better value for money too.
