The Avenger brings a dash of bold American styling to the rather sober and safe-looking large family car segment. Available only as a saloon, the Avenger is roomy and priced against cars like the Kia Magentis.

All the minimum safety kit you would expect in a large family saloon is here, including six airbags (twin front, side and curtain airbags), ABS with emergency braking assistance and seatbelt pretensioners. The Avenger also comes with a tyre pressure monitor and electronic stability control as standard.

Reliability

Engines available in the Avenger have been proven in other products so should be quite reliable. There are few electronic gadgets available, which should reduce the risk of electrical faults, but the interior doesn't feel especially robust.
