The BMW M6 Convertible represents something of a problem for true-blue driving enthusiasts. Awesomely fast, great handling, a fantastic noise and uncompromising looks but… it’s still a convertible.

Buying used

You can be fairly picky about what you buy because resale values on the M6 Convertible aren’t particularly strong - expect a three-year-old model with 30,000 miles on the clock to be worth around 36%. Steer clear of cars with scuffed alloys and rough interiors because they have probably been thrashed.

Although the standard 6 Series holds its values reasonably well don’t expect to get a king’s ransom when you come to sell your M6. Buyers will be put off by cars that haven’t been serviced at a BMW dealership and they’ll be even more put off if the leather upholstery is showing signs of abuse and if alloy wheels are heavily scuffed. You will get an enthusiastic buyer if you bother to refurbish damaged wheels.
