The Porsche 911 Cabriolet, Jaguar XK Convertible and the Mercedes-Benz SL got off lightly when the original 6-Series Convertible was launched, but now they have a battle on their hands if looks are anything to go by, and BMW means business with this new model. At speeds between 12mph and 34mph, if the car is in a collision with a pedestrian, actuators raise the bonnet at the front and rear. This rapid movement creates greater deformation space under the bonnet for enhanced impact-absorbing capacity, reducing the risk of serious injury to the pedestrian.Other standard kit includes front and side airbags. It also comes with active roll over protection system in the event of an accident and run-flat tyres with a Tyre Pressure Warning Indicator. Rear ISOFIX child seat attachments are standard. To aid driving performance and enhance safety the vehicle comes with Brake Fade Compensation, Brake Pre-Tensioning and Hill-Start Assistant features to ensure optimum brake performance and driver comfort.The car has not been tested by Euro NCAP but we expect it to achieve the top five-star rating. 5 out of 5 Reliability Few problems have been reported with the previous generation.
