Used BMW 5-Series M5 (2011 - 2016) Safety & Reliability

Review by Parkers on
The Holy Grail, if you like, is for BMW to outstrip its own very high standards and build the best ‘M’ car ever. They probably achieved that with the 1 M Coupe launched in early 2011 but now this, the fifth generation of the M5, is seeking to take that title and there's no doubting it is a class act.

The M5 is an incredibly safe car. Although it hasn't been crash tested by Euro NCAP, the standard 5-Series saloon on which it is based scored the maximum five star rating. The M5 is fitted with driver, passenger, front and side airbags, Dynamic Stability Control Plus which is linked to the anti-lock brakes, Cornering Brake Control, Dynamic Brake Control, brake assistant, brake fade compensation and brake disc drying.

The front head restraints have anti-whiplash protection.

We've had no reported problems from the 5-Series so the M5 should prove as reliable as the rest of the BMW range. The three-year warranty should also help give peace of mind.
