The Holy Grail, if you like, is for BMW to outstrip its own very high standards and build the best ‘M’ car ever. They probably achieved that with the 1 M Coupe launched in early 2011 but now this, the fifth generation of the M5, is seeking to take that title and there's no doubting it is a class act.

Equipment

It is incredibly well equipped. The M5 comes with head-up display, DAB digital radio, front and rear park distance control, four-zone air-con, xenon headlights, adaptive headlights and front seat heating, multimedia navigation system, Bluetooth and USB audio interfaces that allows integration of Smartphones. It also includes BMW Assist - a new real-time traffic information service that provides accurate traffic bulletins and diversion suggestions.

Optional equipment includes a rear-view camera, high-beam assistant, speed limit information, lane-change and lane departure warnings, surround view and BMW night vision to ensure the driver is aware of anything and everything happening within the vicinity of the car. A mobile application that allows iPhone owners to receive web radio stations and display Facebook and Twitter posts on the Control Display can also be specified.
