Used BMW 2-Series M2 (2016 - 2017) Equipment Review by Gareth Evans on 15 Apr 2016 Last Updated: 29 Sep 2016 4.5 A new M car from BMW is always an exciting prospect. Known for their powerful engines and pin-sharp handling, they’re often styled in a manner that is purposeful but reserved, flying under the radar unless you really know what to look for. Unusually for a BMW car, however, you don’t need a huge amount of optional extras. Some are available as factory-fit, while there’s a catalogue of M Performance parts on offer that can be installed at dealerships. A number of safety features are included in the list price, while more can be ordered at additional cost. These are detailed in the Safety section of this review. Standard BMW M2 equipment A base-spec car won’t disappoint you. You get BMW’s Professional multimedia package (detailed in the Behind the Wheel section of this review), leather upholstery with blue stitching, sports front seats, carbon fibre interior trim, 60:40-split rear seats, a black leather steering wheel, cruise control and a choice of four colours of exterior paint. The M2 wears a bespoke bodykit for better aerodynamic performance, while 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels sit in front of large high-performance brakes. The electronically controlled rear differential is standard, along with a sports exhaust with variable noise output depending on driving mode. Optional BMW M2 accessories The factory-installed options you can choose from include: • Seven-speed automatic gearbox • Heated steering wheel • Glass sunroof • Electronic front-seat adjustment with memory function • Folding centre armrest for rear seats with through-load function into boot • Heated front seats • Electronic lumbar adjustment for front seats • Internet connectivity • Music streaming through built-in SIM card There’s also a range of accessories that can be installed at the dealership listed in the M Performance catalogue. You can add a louder sports exhaust system, a number of different steering wheels, manually adjustable suspension, decals packs and interior trim personalisation options.
