The Audi A4 Cabriolet is all about understated elegance. It's smooth, refined, has a well designed interior and comes with some fine petrol and diesel engines.

The A4 wasn't tested by Euro NCAP (although the 2001-2005 saloon was a four star car), but it comes equipped with all the modern safety features you'd expect, such as twin front and side airbags, front seatbelt pre-tensioners and ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution. All cars have a new rollover system, too. In the event of the car rolling, two rollover hoops are deployed, in a similar, explosive, way to that of an airbag.

Security is taken care of by an immobiliser and alarm.

Only the 1.8T has caused any major grumbles - but the problems it suffered a few years ago have now been fixed. The previous model was superbly built and this car appears to be the same.

Although there have been problems in the past with the 1.8T engine, this seems to have been rectified in recent years.
