The Audi A3 hatchback is one of the smarter looking medium family hatchbacks and it attracts well-heeled buyers or company car drivers that don't want to draw too much attention to themselves. Most people will buy an A3 based mainly on the badge and, as a medium hatchback with excellent engines and sensible running costs (thanks to its strong residual values), it certainly ticks plenty of boxes.

Expect the Audi A3 to receive five stars when tested by Euro NCAP even though the previous generation only received four stars. Standard Audi A3 safety kit on the Audi A3 includes front seatbelt pretensioners, as well as driver, passenger, side body, head and knee airbags while all models also have an alarm/immobiliser and remote central locking with deadlocks.

Audi has an excellent reputation for build quality so worries about Audi A3 reliability should be non-existent. Audi engines are largely bulletproof so you should have few problems with mechanicals.
