In the past you could have a BMW 3 Series with two, four or five doors, as a coupe, convertible, saloon or estate.

To try to clear up some of that confusion the German manufacturer has decided to only put 3 Series badges on saloon and estate models, with coupe and convertible cars given a new 4 Series name.

The 4 Series Coupe has two doors, a swoopy roofline, and a sportier driving experience thanks to a lower centre of gravity and wider track than the 3 Series saloon.

Convertible models feature a three-piece folding metal roof which can be opened in 20 seconds, and results in a look that is closer to the coupe when closed.
